TWO FRONTIERS, ONE MISSION

To explore, understand, and harness microbial life—from sea to space.

The Two Frontiers Project is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit research initiative exploring microbial life in the most extreme environments on Earth and in space. We connect scientists, explorers, and innovators to unlock the potential of bioproduction via microbial communities for ecosystem resilience, human health, and space exploration.

EXPLORING THE UNKNOWN

WHAT WE DO

Man in winter clothing carrying a red cooler walking away from a small circular hot spring. Another person is in the background arranging firewood. Snow-covered landscape with houses and trees.

EXPLORATION

We lead expeditions to sites where life thrives under extreme pressure, temperature, and isolation.

CULTIVATION

We apply advanced microbiology and genomics to map microbial diversity and function.

SOLUTIONS

We develop microbial technologies to restore ecosystems, recycle resources, and sustain life beyond Earth.

WORK WITH US

Partner with the Two Frontiers Project to push the boundaries of microbial discovery.

We collaborate with researchers, institutions, and organizations to co-design kits, support field sampling, and provision microbial strains for specialized research.
